Drag and Drop file management demoed in Windows Phone 8

We have heard that Windows Phone 8 will support drag and drop file management, but so far we have not seen any real evidence of this.

Chinese site Winp.cn however managed to demonstrate this on their Nokia Lumia 820.

In the above picture we can see the device has been mounted as an external drive.



Above we can see the various storage partitions, much like on Windows Mobile years ago.



Here is the various folders, as as can be seen documents, music, videos, pictures and ring tones can be added directly to the device.

This includes sub folders like the camera Roll.

Pictures can then be dragged and directly into these folders.



The pictures are then added directly to the appropriate Hub on the phone.

Winp.cn notes that while drag and drop may be the most straight forward for technical users, it is likely Microsoft will still have a dedicated desktop app for the average user to load their device with content.

The above does however represent a return to a lot more freedom for Windows Phone users, which will hopefully also result in increased adoption in the market with those who appreciate this.
