Obama campaign dismisses poll showing erosion of female support
By REID J. EPSTEIN | 10/25/12 12:09 PM EDT
RICHMOND, Va. -- Count President Obama's campaign among the growing legion of poll skeptics.

Obama's campaign press secretary Jen Psaki told reporters aboard Air Force One that the president's team puts no stock in the Associated Press's poll, released Thursday, that shows Obama tied with Mitt Romney among both male and female voters.

Asked if the campaign is concerned about the poll's findings indicate Obama's outreach to women is not breaking through, Psaki issued a curt, "No."

"New polls come out every hour as you know, because you all chase them down," Psaki told reporters aboard Air Force One. "Look, any poll that shows us tied with women and with men in this country is not a poll that we are placing bets on in Vegas."

At his Thursday morning rally in Tampa, Fla., Obama included a reference to Indiana Senate candidate Richard Mourdock's comments about rape in his typical riff about women's health care.

Psaki said "it continues to be perplexing to us" why Romney has yet to revoke his support for Mourdock and continues to allow the Indiana state treasurer to air a television advertisement Romney filmed for him.

The ad is the only one Romney has filmed for a congressional candidate in the general election campaign.
