Lisa:
Gte is replacing all of the local phone lines in this area with new
copper to replace the old lines. They were in severe need of
replacement.... my internet connection gets cut off quite often,
though not as much recently. I would like fiber, but realize the cost
would be astronomical to do all the lines. They may still be looking
at XDSL (copper based) as a future transmission means. I did,
however, hear that my local cable company has fiber just outside
my yard and if they can provide internet (both ways), cable, and
phone service, I'll probably switch. At this time they provide
internet receive only, and cable TV. Fiber for the common man
may be some time off.
