Nice "report", Geoff, thanks. I visited BA a couple of times, and enjoyed the city. One memorable thing is their Tango - tango all over the place. In some neighborhoods, street musicians, many of them older fellows, would play tango, and people would stop and listen. From time to time the crowd couldn't help it, and would start dancing. Very lovely.
They have dinner tango shows, with serious professional dancers. That was great.
Great town - unfortunately, as you noticed, too statist and too political. From time to time that causes big trouble. An unfortunate tradition which they have inherited from Europe.
The meat in BA is like in no other place in the world -- except maybe in neighboring Montevideo, across the Rio Plata. I used to tell friends that its worth visiting BA - if only to have a couple of steaks, and to see a tango show.
Well, skiing in the middle of the summer was fun too.... :) |
