You have no idea what motivates people, or the right ingredients for a successful society. A good society needs teachers, poets, and a whole array of people who do not see money as the measure of ones success.
oh, I see. I have no idea, but you do?
Look, these people make a personal decision on how they view success, no problem. Just don't ask those who do not share their viewpoints to subsidize their personal choices.
My kids are a perfect example. My son in law is a pretty renowned chemist who chose being a research scientist over working for a corporation where he could make 3 times the money. My daughter is a lawyer who stays home to raise and educate the kids. Those kids when grown will be much more valuable to society than some dumb rich dude who ignored their kids education of achieving self actualization.
Thats fantastic. The parties in each example have made their own "personal choices". They have each made financial sacrifices to achieve their own personal /family choices. Which is fine. I made similar choices when my wife gave up her job in order to home school our child years ago. I took on an additional job. i didn't ask the Govt for any assistance because the choices we made were exclusively our own. Some believe I should pay to subsidize others personal choices. This is a viewpoint that I do not subscribe to.
Heck, about three weeks ago, I was washing off my driveway and sidewalk. A new neighbor comes huffing and puffing down the sidewalk towards me. She started yelling about the water that I was wasting washing my sidewalk. She goes on yelling that I was wasting thr water her children would need in the future. She said I was wasting "her" childrens water. I inquired and asked her how many children her and her husband had. She said 5. I asked her if her 5 children take baths everyday, she said "of course" I told her that having 5 children was irresponsible, but was their personal choice. I asked her if she believed I should abstain from washing my driveway, simply because her and her husband made "personal choices" to have so many children. She said that her children had "rights" to the water I was using.
People need to take personal responsibility for their personal choices. Not think that the other tax payers should subsidize their "personal choices"
