Surface looked great at the Windows Store. The tablet detaches from the keyboard, so anyone that wants to use it as a tablet or notebook PC is in good shape.

The death of the desktop is greatly exaggerated. As far as Windows goes, it's been a long time since there has been any type of meaningul upgrade. Going from XP to Windows 7 wasn't that much of a difference, except for the fact the hardware supporting Windows 7 was much better. People still get the same utility from the Desktop on Windows 8, but the Metro interface is really cool. The interaction between Windows devices is now a reality, with any Windows 8 PC in direct control of XBOX. The rollout of Windows 8 phones will provide the same level of interaction too.

MSFT may have taken a lot longer, but at least they avoided plagarizing every aspect of Apple's IPR to get the job done like Google for smartphones and tablets.
