What you are failing to understand, is that you live in a society and you have a responsibility to your society. The society that protects you. We must work together as a society and our societies priorities trump individual desires.

Great no problem.. I have a responsibility to society. And the guy who won't take the full time job but would rather continue feeding off the Govt entitlement feeding trough has NO DUTY to society? Shouldn't we all have an equal responsibility to society? Or is my responsibility greater since I have worked harder/smater than others?

E.g. research has shown, that for every dollar society spends on head start it gets beack $60 to $300 in increased productivity and lower crime. We should have free educsation for everyone and universal health care. It is what is in the best interest of society.

PS as an ex teacher, my friends and I have discussed, how when we get home schooled kids in our classes, they are usually behind. Not to mention their lack of proper socialization.

The Mrs's used to volunteer at Head Start. Neighborhood House. Lines of illegals driving Merceedes pulling up out front every morning. All working under the table, paying no taxes, and on the system. I guess they consider that their "duty to society". My wife quit volunteering when something like 8 million dollars in Federal funds came up missing. The Feds moved in and took administrative control over the program at Neighborhood House.

That is a very interesting perspective on "home schooling" and the socialization aspect.

We removed our child from public school for exactly that reason. I can't tell you how many parents we knew when our child was in Elementary School we have met, saying they wish they had the resources to have taken their children out of formal education into home school. Their kids ended up in Rehab and in some cases dead from overdose. The pressures of socialization were huge. Kids with too much money and time. The schools and teachers are unable to deal with the issues. We have no regrets about home school, not one, best thing we ever did.
