Dan, if this request was in the form of a directive and the employee violated the directive, accompanied by low and substandard evaluations and documented, then that is grounds for termination. However, the management must know how to document the information. This from my observation was a possible defect in college management courses - labor relations.

I always tried to be fair to the employee as a human, but, at times had to move for termination. Most of the time the employee simply resigned rather than having the record against them.
