Speaking of The Facebook... my high school buddy posted this for what its worth:

So my Droid developed a crack, in spite of zero stress or impact to the screen. I woke up one morning, the screen was all weird. The crack slowly developed and was visible a day or two later. Eventually, the screen was completely unreadable.
I Googled it up, seems to have finally been recognized as a known issue, but people were having trouble getting their phones fixed/replaced. Motorola said they'd fix it, sent me to a warranty shop over 2 hours away, that hasn't been a Motorola Warranty shop for years. This led to a really gorgeous drive across the state, so not so bad overall.
Then the Verizon store said it wasn't a known issue, and not under warranty (a two-month-old phone with a one-year warranty) because it's a thin phone and you can't put it in your pocket without an Otter case and other cases don't count.
So you can email Verizon with any problem EXCEPT if your phone can't call out, then you have to call them instead. Really.
I finally reached a very nice tech there by writing with a minor billing problem, then he called me. He checked on the phone thing, said it's a known problem they'd have a new phone to me the next day, which they did. He also said the Verizon techs just had to do a one-or-two-second search of the tech alerts rather than say, "I've never heard of this as a known problem, and there's no way it can be fixed for under $300."
So the phone's back, contacts are back, and apps as well. BTW, this whole process took about 6 weeks up to the last bit, that took about 15 minutes to make sure the problem I had is the covered one. Could all have been done the first day, if it were easier to reach a competent human.
