Well, I am going to disagree with your there MM. Being free means someone else pays the bill and also means the teachers and learning institutions can charge any price.

What's an appropriate cost for a 4 year college education? $100,000, $400,000 or $2,000,000? Who controls the costs?

The more the government makes cheap money available for education, the higher the tuition costs climb. The ultimate beneficiaries of cheap government money are the colleges and the teachers... not the student.
