Thomas:

A blunt, strictly personal question: In your pinion/ experince/ conversations with colleagues: Who currenlty has the best Java Development Suite/Kit out? On what hardware platforms can you develop with it - if that matters at all.

You don't seem to have been answered on this one, and I think its a good question. In my opinion, the most impressive Java development suite is (gasp) from IBM: Visual Age for Java. Why the gasp? Well, its a sign of the leveling of the playing field in that it's been a long time since I was blown away by something from IBM (if ever). It currently runs on Windows and OS/2. Hopefully it will eventually run on Solaris, but I'm not sure how much is implemented in Java, nor whether IBM is porting it to Solaris. I could go into micro detail on what makes it so outstanding, but only if you're interested.
