Yeah, I remember you mentioning that before.

I don't know if you watch much basketball, but one frequent occurrence is that in the ebb-and-flow of the game, one team will go on a "run" in which they score a lot of points and the game is on the cusp of getting out of hand for the losing team. The coach of the losing team responds by calling a time-out.

Upon resuming play, suddenly the losing team begins to play better. Coaches frequently use times-out not to gameplan or strategize, but rather, to reset team psychology.

Time-out = Time gap?

Or how about in a contentious work meeting--"Let's take a break before our tempers get the best of us." Everyone comes back and cooler heads prevail.
