Introducing the iDtenT index
This new index that Tankwatch is introducing measuring the success of Apple relative to Microsoft, relative to October 31, 2012. This date is significant because it marks very closely the launch of Windows 8, Windows Phone 8, Windows RT, and the iPad Mini. It is defined as follows:
(Price of 1 Share Apple / Price of 1 Share Microsoft) * 10000 * (.048024)
On market open today the iDtenT index was at 10,000.
It is an measure, starting on today's date, of the relative wisdom of having held AAPL stock versus having held MSFT stock, purely on the basis of stock value. This index does inherently disadvantage Microsoft, who pays better dividends; it may be possible to correct this.

The more this index moves above 10,000 the wiser the AAPL long position would have been.
The more this index moves below 10,000 the wiser a MSFT long position would have been.
