I mentioned that when the mini was released and people were complaining the price was too high.

Normal Apple - first release prices are always a bit higher. The impatient will pay more. Why should apple sell to them cheap when they generally can't keep up with initial demand anyway?

Apple then improves the product, offers the improved product for the original price and lowers the price on the older model.

They've done this several times now. So we'll probably see the current mini under $300 sometime after Xmas or sometime next year.
