I hope Apple software keeps up, too, on both the phone and the computer. I believe that the people now in charge of the aesthetic and ones in charge of the functionality of the software, who are now rightly not the same people, are very talented, committed people, who are being given a chance to spread their wings in new ways, after many great successes.
My bet is that they are delighted with the opportunity and the challenge, and that we may see some even cooler things from Apple in the future.
At a minimum, we'll get a visible redesign of Notes, Calendar, iBooks, etc., as the dreaded skeuomorphism is excised. I hope they don't get rid of that analog clock from Switzerland, though. I like it.
It's also possible that the next few years will represent a whole new flowering of creativity within Apple. That's as possible as any other scenario, and is rather fun to contemplate. |
