in the 70s natural gas was dirt cheap. As such nobody wanted to sniff for it.

I agree. Until the oil crisis of 1974 (?) people took oil for granted. In present times, people look more and more to other sources of energy. Don't think it would be outrageous to say there are more homes heated with gas now than there were ten years ago.

Natural gas is good!
