While I am no longer an uber geek like I once was, I still consider myself relatively technical. That said, when I went to Hawaii for a couple of weeks last year, and on multiple week get aways this year as well, I decided to not take a laptop and to solely rely on the iPad for what I needed.

I didn't even once miss the laptop and, in fact, relished the lack of bulk many times during those periods. And while I no longer code and don't have a need for complex development envioronments/applications, I still very much you Word/Excel type of functionality for purposes of my career, in addition to running a small business and managing investment property.

But not ONCE did I miss the functionality of a laptop or other classic PC ability. I've heard the same from others as well. To some degree more is more, won't argue that ... but I found that web content and fucntionality is king.

Not saying this specifically as it relates to the iPad but for tablets vs. legacy usage in general. It's not that much different than all the banter that I saw regarding technical limitations of the iPhone vs. others when a vast majority of people just don't care. As it relates to Apple, they have the brand and it's what everyone wants ... especially the kids these days. It's almost scary.
