Um, let's see. Reagan used in when he took office. He greatly expanded government payrolls. In fact, we and other countries use it during recessions. Compared to historical recessions using it decreases the length and severity of them. Which seems like a good thing to me...

Recent case in point. In Europe, they went with much larger stimuli compared to their GNP. Things didn't get nearly as worse for them. When they started their austerity measures too soon, they fell into a wholly predictable recession. Both per Keynes.
