It's not the advantage as much as it is damage control.

Blaming a YouTube clip fits into Obama's foreign policy, which basically consists of apologizing for America and "hitting the reset button."

But an actual terrorist attack is something that Obama can't easily fix by killing Osama Bin Laden over again.
