I cannot but completely discount the AOL piece as the total fabrication of a mind engaging in wishful thinking. It is inconceiveable to me that the men who worked so hard for the last 10-12 years, and who stand at the brink of being at the helm of one of the most important companies in their industry would give up that sense of accomplishment and source of pride for mere money, regardless of the quantity. A&A do not strike me as being men who are hell bent on maximizing their fortunes, but rather men of honor and integrity (even when we wish they would be a little less so with respect to the PR department.) I do not even wish for the aforementioned event. It seems to me that there is a considerable dilution problem associated with seeing Cymer lost into the folds of a larger firm. As it is, we who are long the stock will participate directly in the gains Cymer makes in business, which in percentage increase terms (or CAGR or any other) stand to be much more significant for the firm as an independent entity than as a small piece of a larger concern. I would not give up that long term growth rate for a momentary tender premium.
