I'm not sure if you were being sarcastic or not.

The full release update to Microsoft Office for the Surface (actually any RT device) is 325.8 MB; I know because I'm installing it right now. :)

It includes Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft OneNote. All are included with Windows RT, at no additional charge.

It needs to be installed, because due to time constraints, the devices shipped with a preview release version. But the full release was available as a download on the day the devices went on sale.

Personally, I think its great the device ships with support for 100% of the top 100 printers, and lots of other goodies, built in.
