What Obama should have done was taken the advise of the Bipartisan Budget Commission that he constituted and pushed hard for that. If he had done that, then Independents like me would have believed that he'd done all he could to bring fiscal sanity to this country, but that the GOP stonewalled him. However, he basically ignored the Bipartisan Commission's recommendations. That was a big mistake.

BTW, Independents are breaking for Romney by a 20%+ margin. That's no accident.
