Now the question is, if Obama wins, what happens?

I think the ones who think the Republicans will double down on the crazy are right. They will look at the election and say it was all Romney's fault, if only Sandy hadn't of hit when it did and other whiny excuses. And their march to being a regional party will only accelerate. What they should learn, but won't, is that the average American is to their left. Maybe by a considerable amount. Romney did not get any real traction until the first debate. Then he started to dump all of the hard Right positions he had to take to win the primary. The Obama campaign was successful in reminding people what Willard's past positions were, and his lead started to erode. What really did him in was in the last debate when he threw out all of his foreign policy stances and adopted Obama's. While it was amusing watching Obama shellac him in the last two debates I don't think that made much of a difference. It was him trying to Etch-A-Sketch his way out.
