insufficient vetting. The fact that idiots like Akin and Murdoch won primaries, and no one found out they were idiots certainly hurts the whole movement
In the ideal world Republicans would learn that anti-abortion positions are where the high risks are and would cull candidates in the primaries that expose those views. Currently it is set up to send these kinds of people out to get killed in state-wide and national races. The safe position going forwards is to say that it is a settled law and that they would not change the laws here.
