I have received e-mails from several friends today that actually made me well up with tears, and I am not generally a teary-eyed person. I am thinking that the reaction is a combination of hearing my friends so 'down', leftover emotion from the tragedy of last night, and contemplating the future under another four years of Obama.

This is the latest received e-mail that caused that reaction:

After turning off my computer and the radio (as you know, I don’t have TV) at midnight, I must admit to being crestfallen. I spent the next hour or so just thinking about what I had read and heard over the previous five plus hours. Then I did what our Founding Fathers did in 1775; I started to prepare for the coming battle. I opened my gun case and began cleaning all of my already-clean weapons. After two hours, and with the sweet smell of gun oil in the air, I retired to my bed contented in the knowledge that I am ready. At 67, this Viet Nam vet (1965-1966) is once more ready and willing to take up arms to defend the constitution to which I swore an oath in my youth. An oath that will remain in effect until my Divine Father calls me home.
