I don't think a lot of federal money has been spent on that subject. I know of what I think is currently the largest diet/lifestyle study going on, and indeed it does look at vegetarian/vegan as one aspect (and indeed there are significant health benefits).

You might want to contrast your example with say the Cato Institutes association with claiming smoking didn't cause cancer. How did that work out? Along with all the private enterprise research (form tobacco cos) that showed the same thing (well, except for the internal reports they didn't disclose).

I do find it very interesting that quite a list of the clowns from the smoking doesn't cause lung cancer are shifted to GHG can't warm the planet. Now, gee, why would that be? Same reason they were clueless about smoke. They get paid to be clueless, and they are Libertarian. Can you hazard a guess as to what the Libertarian connection is? Why does it make them be idiots with science?
