Can you imagine the stunning amount of innovation Apple could have accomplished had it spent those billions on R&D instead of in pursuing legal challanges against the myriad of OEMs, including Apples own primary supplier? Samsung would still be Apple's major panel supplier, and Apple wouldn't have had to spend additional billions purchasing manufacturing facilities for Sharp to ensure the if Sharp goes bankrupt, Apple would still be able to make displays (yes, Sharp's creditors could halt Apple's supply chain).

It is no wonder Apple's lead council has dumped his stock and quit (or was fired?). Apple's sue-away-the-competition strategy has been a supreme failure; and they can't make production quotas with Samsungs low-yield displays and the scuff-prone aluminum casings that Foxconn workers seem none-to happy about having to produce.

If the people who make your phone strike because they scratch so easily, can you imagine how well your phone will hold up when you get it home?

Foxconn Continues to Experience Difficulties with iPhone 5 Manufacturing.

After consumers discovered that the black version of Apple iPhone 5 can come with damages or scratches on the case, Foxconn and Apple imposed new quality-related requirements so that to ensure that the end-user gets without scrapes. After stricter quality requirements were imposed, Foxconn faced strikes at select facilities. Unfortunately, since there is a global issue with the black coating, consumers will easily damage their iPhones themselves.
