In general parents are most responsible for how their children turn out. By definition, it has to be true.

While the Greatest Generation is applauded for their sacrifice...on the back end of it, they let their guard down when they came back home and raised the kids. Not all of them of course, but apparently too many of them.

I'm guessing it's a human nature thing and yet another echo from the effects and unintended consequences of the Great Depression and then the post war boom of WWII.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions, and all that. I am not blaming the Greatest Generation so much as trying to understand how this all happened.

Think of the formation of United Nations and how that turned out as a more easy to follow example of what I am talking about. It applies to nearly everything that the left has eventually hijacked for their own purposes.

Some things in life are just baked into the cake, human nature being what it is.

It could be worse...we had one hell of a run and I do thank the Greatest Generation for that.

I have no doubt they did the very best they could and no other generation would have done it any better.
