[FYI - Siemens & Orkit Announcement] Siemens and Orckit Combined Solution to Enable Telephone Companies To Provide Interactive Multimedia Services Using Regular Telephone Lines <<TEL AVIV, Israel, Dec. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- The Siemens Public Communication Networks Group has signed a cooperation agreement with Israel-based Orckit Communications Ltd. (Nasdaq: ORCTF - news) Together the partners will integrate Orckit's VDSL (Very high bit-rate Digital Subscriber Line) solution in a jointly developed broad-band product, enabling telecom operators to provide even higher transmission speeds over existing copper telephone lines. The Siemens broadband access system is expected to include VDSL starting in 1998.
