RE:Right now what I think is that Obama was saved by Sandy.

Could you explain your rationale for this?

Obama's negatives declined after Sandy struck. He was polling below 50% on favorability. After Sandy he added enough to be at 52% or so. 3% of the voting population less and Obama would be going home in January.

Romney stopped the attacks. Obama needed to be outed and yet negative campaigning would have made people more upset at Mitt Romney for being divisive during a crisis. It was better to stop them and hope for the best than drive up his own negatives among independents.

Do you remember when McCaskill's husband died a month or so before the election? The democrat Missouri Governor announced he would appoint her to fill his seat. The opponent had to stop the nasty negative ads our of respect and she won where her living husband would have lost.

I still think OBama was going to lose and Sandy gave him the victory. I may be alone in this. Others may have already argued the case more eloquently. I'll stick with my opinion for now.
