One thing people don't realize that the stuff we get OUT of oil and gas wells includes hydrocarbons, brine, and sulfuric acid. IOW the stuff we're drilling FOR is at least as toxic as anything that is injected.

The only danger to the (relatively shallow) ground water people use is the section of the well that passes through it. That is cemented long before the drillhole reaches the resource bearing strata. If a well had a bad cement job, the ground water could be reached but that could happen with ANY well, hydrofraced or not.
