Needham & Company maintained a Buy rating on Brooks Automation Inc. (NASDAQ: BRKS) and trimmed its price target to $9.00 (from $10.00). Today Brooks reported Q4 EPS of 8 cents, 3 cents ahead of estimates, but Q1 guidance was well below street estimates.

"While the outlook is disappointing, we believe it is largely due to sector weakness and BRKS's position as a sub-system supplier with outsized exposure to smaller Korean OEMs. We believe business could bounce back more sharply when the sector recovers," said analyst Y. Edwin Mok.

"Longer term, we continue to believe its expansion into life science, its focus on new design wins, and steps taken to improve margins will enable the company to resume revenue and earnings growth," added Mok.
