Again -- if a person is convicted of a felony, say drug possession, what logical reason can you give for disallowing that person to vote AGAINST the law he/or she may not support?

To eliminate the ability of said person to be involved in a change of the system.

Those that violate such laws are not allowed any input that might result in a change of the status quo.

Convicting such persons flags them as person that would likely vote against the laws that put them in jail. A cluster of persons to negate, as far as voters.

All systems tent to try to perpetuate themselves. Allowing such persons to vote would undermine the system.

It is a method of manipulating election results.
