I can try to answer that on a personal basis as I probably consider myself more closely aligned with their beliefs than the Republicans.

I am a Catholic. I oppose abortion "personally", but I would never think that I could ever impose my belief on anyone else in any "legal" way, I would only speak my mind if asked and stress that it was my personal viewpoint. (I was not always pro-life until someone said something as simple as, "who speaks for the child"? when confronted with her body her choice.)
Also, you will never get me to accept to pay for someone's abortion.

Marriage in my mind as a Catholic is a sacrament, one man one woman, and must be left as such.
I have no problem with gays doing whatever they want to do, call it a civil union, give them the benefits they want, but do not call it marriage.
