To show that ideas are wrong by simply going along with them and allowing them to become reality is not the American way. Our political tradition is to fight things out. If you allow an idea to stand unchallenged -- guess what, the fact that you didn't object means that now you own it. It was your idea as well.

Besides, no matter how you play it, if there is trouble, the Dems will always find a pretext to blame the other side. The press and academia will help them.
