Lindy, there's nothing wrong with eugenics. Women tell drooling blokes every day that their dna is not worth reproduction. The problem with eugenics was that the government got into the act, as with so many things. Education is a good idea too, but not when government takes over and insists that An Inconvenient Truth is official state truth and shall be inculcated in the gullible. Groceries are a good idea too, but Big Government in charge of groceries results in queues for bad bread, as in the USSR. Gasoline is another good thing, but when governments design gasoline, they come up with the idea of fermenting food into ethanol and forcing people to buy that.
Eugenics got us from being chimps to being almost human [some of us anyway]. We need MORE eugenics, not less. Fortunately, with 3 billion women conducting their personal eugenics programmes, there is a lot of eugenics going on and the gene pool is very rapidly being filtered. See The Flynn Effect for example. Women quite universally select for intelligence as a primary trait they want in a bloke. Women would rather go without than compromise their standards. Contrary to official government policy, intelligence is largely a genetic effect, albeit with a good dose of nutrition required to actually build the brain from the dna plans.
Let's not let government get in the way of something good. If you force women to treat everyone fairly, with affirmative action for those who have been missing out, no discrimination by women = they have to take all comers, including those with pre-existing conditions, then we will have done away with eugenics. That will not be a good thing. We should promote eugenics. I am.
Women need more information such as full dna analysis of prospective males as is available at low cost [about $1300] from Complete Genomics, my company. The almost random process which women have used historically, with faulty recessive genes hidden away, is cruel, stupid and very very slow in winnowing out the less desirable dna.
The most dramatic government eugenics programme of modern times is the one-child policy of China which resulted in a big surplus of men as foetal females were aborted. Those females born now enjoy a huge surplus of supplicant males, so the women of course are selecting the best leaving the rest as genetic scrap heap material. That is resulting in a phenomenal upgrade. It's not called eugenics, but it is.
