The comment hurt him badly and was certainly a turning point in the election as it gave credence in the eyes of many to the lying claims by the Obama campaign. The comment was shocking for its cynical essence and its inaccuracy...something you would expect from the likes of rush limbaugh, not a presidential candidate. It re-inforced the definition that a) either this guy is not worthy of the office or b) he will say anything to win favor from the crowd he happens to be addressing....couple that with the flip flops on nearly every issue and you get the picture of an ambitious opportunist...he did it to himself and it had much less to do with your claim of obama "lies"... moderation is the key and its absence in his campaign is validated by the fact that romney never managed to get is likeability much above the mid 40s, even after the first debate.
