Marcie:
I think that Nike is perhaps the best footwear company of the 90's however I can tell you that athletic footwear is definitely declining a bit. Followers of Nike will tell you, as will Phil Knight himself, that Nike doesn't sell shoes, they sell marketing. And they do it very well.

I am embarrassed to say that I have never owned Nike stock and missed the unbelievable rise over the past 10 years. But I also think that Nike has become so large that it will be very hard to continue their success....and the athletic/fashion customer is fickle.

At this point, I would probably hold the stock. Nike is the best but you may need to be patient for a period of time. I have seen companies like Reebok, LA Gear and others fall apart. I don't think that will happen with Nike but they are soooo large and their stock has been soooo overvalued in my opinion, that we are seeing a dose of reality right now. Be patient and good luck.

WMT continues to climb. I may throw in a Coke.
