to all:
First of all, Tradesman kept saying the valley, when the press release said the Texas Coast Area. I have a contact with someone in the Corpus area whose company reworks wells in Victoria, Texas. There was a time when operators would be drilling for oil and would use the gas found to lift the oil up and out, and the gas would be flared (burned off) as there was no demand for gas or pipelines to send it anywhere. Since the 70's, the Railroad Commission I think, required that the gas be reused with a closed rotative gas system, leaving more of the gas in the ground.. less depletion. Now gas is worth going back for by reworking these old sites. When drilling for oil, in the later years, it became mandatory to include the gas find in your logs, but earlier gas was found and records were not kept. Also, there is new technology in the form of 3-D seismic equipment, which is expensive to use, but about 75% accurate in detecting the resevoirs in the sand. It's not so much of a roll of the dice as it once was. The old casings are in place in the reworks, so the expense is not near what it would be in new drills.
Thought I would start our day off with my new found knowledge :)
