He did a good job in Iraq during the so called surge...to what degree the credit goes to what he did or to the so called awakening is probably something we won't know probably ever...but it doesn't matter...he reality is that he "pacified" an entire region of the country and that led to some level of stability and eventual political compromise...it's all relative when you are talking about a country like iraq...
