I honestly have to say I don't regard many on-air folks as real journalists any more.
If a person is anchoring MSNBC or Fox, you know what pill they've had to swallow in order to be on the air.
If they are anchoring on CNBC, you know they are going to have to be invariably pro-Wall Street because
that's their beat.
CNN, well, it's been dumbed down so much.. what can I say.

But this is also true of the three major networks. Their news programs are a shadow of what they used to be.
When you reduce your reporting staff by 75% or more over 20 years it has an effect on content.
They still dwarf the cable channels in audience size, but move closer to irrelevancy with every passing year of shallow coverage.

I had a good time election night. My primary newsfeed was Twitter, and we switched around skimming the
news channels on the TV.

I worked in local TV news for many years, so I do have a certain bias towards strong, substantive content, which you only get from talented (and expensive) reporters. We have far more news outlets in the country than we used to have but the amount of real news has dwindled considerably.

I enjoy your posts. You have a good eye for relevant media news :)
