MGT Capital Investments (MGT), a intelligent property right company, filed a lawsuit claiming patent infringement against multiple companies believed to be violating MGT Gaming's United States Patent No. 7,892,088 entitled "Gaming Device Having a Second Separate Bonusing Event " on Nov 5th. MGT estimates that each play slot machine generates about $4000 per day in revenue for the casinos, or $1.46 million annually. With 10,000 allegedly infringing machines, the annual revenue for casinos is $14.6 billion. If the defendants were to pay MGT a 1% royalty, MGT could receive $146 million annually, or $1.46 billion over the 10 year life of the patent (before taxes and legal fees).
This should be a really great opportunity for investing MGT. With lots of royalties that will become MGT’s revenue, it has a high potential to double its stock price.
