Company Press Release
Ikar Mineral Corp. Makes Announcement
NORTH VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 2, 1997 --Ikar Mineral Corp. (OTC BB:IKAR - news), Tuesday announced the return of the Kilborn Engineering/SNC Lavalin team from the company's Rushan Mining and Refining Complex in Tajikistan.

The engineers will begin preparing their report immediately.

Ikar Mineral Corp.'s Chief Executive Officer Randall Andrus said the report will be available to shareholders in the near future.

Ikar Mineral Corp. believes the Rushan Complex represents one of the world's most significant concentrations of strategic, base and precious metals. This belief stems from an extensive exploration program, which Soviet geologists conducted throughout the Rushan Complex between 1972 and 1977, when Tajikistan was part of the former Soviet Union.

The subsequent Soviet report documented an apparent world class deposit of tungsten, a significant deposit of iron ore, plus commercial quantities of gold, silver, copper and cobalt.

So vast is the potential of this property that Ikar Mineral Corp. in October of this year commissioned Kilborn Engineering/SNC Lavalin to conduct an independent, on-site evaluation of the Rushan property.

Andrus said the engineering firm's field team told him they were ''extremely impressed'' with the quality of work undertaken on the property by Soviet geologists in the 1970s. That work included an exploratory tunnel, numerous adits and approximately 15,000 metres (49,200 ft.) of trenching and horizontal drilling.

The Kilborn Engineering/SNC Lavalin engineers collected samples from these original workings, for assaying in Vancouver. In addition to these samples, they also obtained original Russian samples for re-assay here.

Andrus also reported that Tajik professionals and work crews are busy with on-site construction of infrastructure facilities. Preliminary planning for mill design continues.
