If the rugged individualism you espouse is not tempored by a bit of humanity, we will revert back to the US 19th century wild west. I think a clear majority of americans will continue to vote against that. Sure they will. Very close to half are receiving some sort of remuneration from the taxpayers. Don't you think people would be better off if they learned to take care of themselves? It isn't about "humanity". I don't have a problem with people helping each other out. I have a problem with government being a conduit for that help except in circumstances where it is absolutely necessary. That is because I see government as a last resort.
