Look at Singapore, which went from a poor steamy swamp to a world leader in a few decades thanks to Lee Kwan Yew and such an approach to Virtuous Victorian Values. China, Taiwan, Korea, Japan all did the same to greater or lesser extents.

Indonesia might just do the same, though they do have the problem of being a Moslem country which means they probably can't. Maybe they'll ditch Islamic ideology in favour of civilisation. Whole populations do make wholesale changes from time to time. Which is how Indonesia became Indonesia in the first place and also how they became Islamic. Perhaps it's time for another major paradigm shift happening.
