As I recall, he made very similar comments at the second debate between the republican contenders...and it really fell flat, that was one of the few debates I watched, and the moderator was very respectful to Ron Paul, and gave him a couple of large blocks of time to explain his view...and it was just like his rambling final essay...the only point he made clearly was that he believes we should operate our govt applying the the golden rule...which is nice, but hardly a coherent policy statement. All I could think at the time was 'is that all?' I think a lot of other people felt the same way, as his support quickly evaporated after that debate. I was definitely sympathetic to him, but after that, I have to say, I was very dissappointed...I was looking for him to be much more articulate and 'radical', in establishing the intellectual foundations for life, liberty and property.
