The money is in a Swiss bank account that the IRS had managed to force it to give up the names of its American depositors. So it wouldn't have been on his returns.

If he was more committed to running for president than maximizing his portfolio, he would have brought the money back into the US when he decided to run for office. That way there would have been no questions.
