Your argument, of course, is total bullshit. You are stuck on the idea that the economy is zero sum, which I would expect you to know is not correct. When the wealthy get wealthier, the poor are better off, too, since the wealthy invest money and create jobs.
Being poor in America today means owning a car, perhaps two, having air conditioning, cell phones, cable TV, more living space than the rich in some countries, plenty of food to eat, video games and microwaves, all that crap. I know a guy making minimum wage at a nearby convenience store, just bought a new car.
