The Geniuses don't say anything more than Apple Corporate wants them to say. To do more, they are risking their jobs. I know this as a fact.

The 21.5" iMac will be "in production" until we find out it isn't, and we all hear official word about a delay. My guess is there will be some 21.5" iMacs trickling out by the end of the month, so technically Apple will be right, yet supplies will be severely constrained. Same will be true for the 27" models in December. I believe I read Tim Cook has already said as much.

Now, the only solace I take in all this is that Apple, Inc. no longer relies so heavily on the desktop computer lines for revenue. Can you imagine what these delays and rumors would have done to AAPL and Apple Computer, Inc. back in the day, before the iPods, iPhones and iPads existed?

I shudder at the thought. :-)
