When in vivo point laser Raman spectroscopy measurements are added to the traditional white light and autofluorescence bronchoscopic examination, the specificity is significantly increased compared to WLB +AFB alone and with little loss in sensitivity. To test this pilot theory, the new generation LRS was used on 267 lung measurement sites resulting in an increase in specificity and only a slight reduction in sensitivity as previously found. Here, we present the confirmation of the pilot study.
